5 Prayers For Your Husband
If not you, then who?
In the sacred journey of marriage, a wife has a unique power – the power of intercession. There is an ethereal strength in a wife's prayers for her husband. After all, if she is not praying incessantly for her husband, who will?
Here are 5 heartfelt prayers that you can pray over your husband. Grounded in biblical wisdom, these prayers are not mere words; they are weapons for spiritual warfare and the way in which a wife can fortify the bond between her and her husband by fostering a deeper connection with God in their marriage.
1. Protection
Lord,
I come before you with a heart filled with gratitude for the gift of my husband given to me by Your divine wisdom. Today, I lift him up to You, seeking the shelter of Your mighty hand to surround him with a hedge of protection. As the challenges of life press in from all sides, I pray for a supernatural shield to guard him against harm, both seen and unseen.
Lord, I ask you to empower him with the strength to also be a protector for our family, just as You are our ultimate protector. In Ephesians 6:10-11, we are reminded to "be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes." May my husband be equipped with Your armor, standing firm in faith and courage. I pray that You guide his decisions, allowing him to lead our family with grace, humility, and resilience.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
2. Provision
Lord,
I thank you for my husband, who is a dedicated provider for our family. We know that all provision ultimately comes from Your gracious hand and I pray for Your divine guidance and favor to be upon him in his role as the provider for our household.
Your Word reminds us in Philippians 4:19, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." Lord, I claim this promise for my husband, trusting that You will provide abundantly for all our family's needs. May he find strength in knowing that his efforts align with Your plan for our lives.
In moments of uncertainty, remind him of Your promise in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." May he find comfort in the assurance that You hold his future in Your hands.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
3. Purpose & Potential
Lord,
Thank you for my husband who I lift up to You, recognizing the divine potential that lies within him. I pray that You will lead him into a purpose that aligns with Your will, bringing fulfillment, joy, and a profound sense of meaning to his life.
Lord, I ask for Your guidance and revelation to illuminate the talents, gifts, and potential You have placed within him. May he discover the fullness of his capabilities, recognizing that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). Empower him to step into the greatness You have uniquely fashioned for him.
Grant him wisdom and discernment in his career, as Proverbs 16:3 encourages us to "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans." I pray that you will open doors of opportunity and grant him divine encounters that will further unveil the purpose You have destined for him.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
4. Keep God First
Lord,
I humbly come before You, praying fervently that my husband would always keep You at the forefront of his heart and life. May his relationship with You be the foundation upon which every aspect of his existence is built.
Your Word teaches us in Matthew 6:33, "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." I pray that my husband will continually seek You with unwavering devotion, making You the priority in his thoughts, decisions, and actions. Grant him a hunger for Your Word. May he find joy in meditating on it day and night, and be like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding fruit in its season.
May his love for You deepen with each passing day, and may he continue to grow in wisdom and understanding through his relationship with You.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
5. Answered Prayers
Lord,
I lift up my husband’s prayers to You, knowing that You are the God who hears and answers. Your Word assures us in 1 John 5:14-15, "And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of Him."
Father, align his desires with Yours so that his prayers may be powerful and effective (James 5:16). I trust that as he seeks Your will, You will answer his prayers according to Your perfect plan.
In moments of waiting, grant him patience, knowing that Your timing is perfect. Isaiah 40:31 assures us that those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. May he find strength and hope in Your promises, even when answers seem delayed.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
